Shoulder Pain

The shoulder is one of the most mobile joints in the body, and as such shoulder pain can be a very common condition. This shoulder pain can travel up the neck and move further down the back as more pressure is put on other parts of the body in order to avoid the pain.

Shoulder pain can be due to:

  • General wear and tear as you get older
  • An injury
  • Arthritis in the joints around the shoulder
  • Bursitis
  • Inflammation of nearby tendons, such as those connected to the bicep muscles of your arms, from overuse or injury.

Any constant motion or activity that requires shoulder use, such as baseball pitching can  cause shoulder pain, but you don't have to be a pitcher to be affected. Anything you do that requires you to raise your arm continuously can cause shoulder pain. You can even cause shoulder pain in your sleep. Stress can cause you to tense your muscle for extended periods of time causing pain in the shoulders, neck and back.
